RF Micro-Needling
RF Microneedling is a game-changer for skin rejuvenation – Big impact with little to no downtime!
Microneedling with radiofrequency, like other microneedling procedures, creates controlled micro-injuries in the skin to stimulate collagen production. After cleansing the skin surface and applying a topical anesthetic, the microneedling device is gently pressed against the treatment area to create numerous, tiny, micro-channels. Microneedling with radiofrequency uses the added technology of flow needles to deliver RF energy into the dermis. The RF energy heats the dermis which not only encourages collagen growth but tissue tightening as well. The penetration of the microneedles into the skin leads to a release of growth factors and triggers the wound healing cascade, encouraging collagen production which leads to younger looking skin. Since the epidermis is not destroyed, as is the case with all microneedling treatments, recovery time is much shorter when compared to more aggressive laser resurfacing treatments or deep chemical peels.
Microneedling with Radiofrequency addresses concerns such as:
• Uneven Skin Tone/Texture
• Fine Lines & Wrinkles
• Large Pores
• Facial Skin Laxity
Recovery
Most patients experience minor redness after the procedure as well as skin dryness and shedding which are all expected. There is no downtime with microneedling with radiofrequency however if the procedure is being done in preparation for an event, it is advised to schedule treatment at least 1 week prior to ensure adequate time for the redness to dissipate.
Ideal Candidate
Microneedling with radiofrequency is ideal for someone that wishes to improve the appearance of minor skin imperfections such as fine lines and wrinkles, skin laxity, scarring, and uneven skin tone and texture. This technique is also very safe for darker skin tones in contrast to many other skin rejuvenation techniques.
Not Recommended For
Microneedling with radiofrequency is not recommended for those who have used Accutane within six months, have open wounds or a skin infection, have had radiation treatment within the last year, are pregnant, or have a history of keloid scars.
Side Effects
Microneedling with radiofrequency is generally well tolerated but erythema may be seen after treatment, lasting for 2-3 days. The skin may also feel warm, tight, and itchy but this will normally resolve in 12-48 hours. Treated skin may be more prone to hyperpigmentation so strict adherence to photoprotection is advised for a week after.
RF-energy combined with micro-needling is a non-surgical skin rejuvenation procedure being used around the world to help people tighten, lift and plump skin, reduce wrinkles, shrink pores and get rid of acne scars and other blemishes on your face and other parts of the body. It is a non-invasive procedure, causes minimal discomfort and virtually no downtime to the patient. The fractional RF technology treats the target area through the rapid penetration of insulated micro-needles without causing extensive damage to the surface of your skin – the epidermis. These microneedles then release energy below the skin surface. After the procedure, the skin reacts by creating new collagen and skin tissue.
RF Microneedling is most commonly used to combat problems in the facial skin but other areas of the body can be treated to reduce the appearance of stretch marks and scars.
• Forehead wrinkles – Fine lines, frown lines, wrinkles, and creasing of the skin in the forehead area
• Droopy eyes & wrinkles – Loose eyelids, creepy under-eye skin, fine lines, wrinkles, and crow’s feet.
• Neck Skin Tightening – Tighten and lift laxity in the neck area.
• Arm Skin Tightening
• Acne Scars
• Sun Damaged Skin
• Uneven Skin Tone
• Stretch Marks – most body areas can be treated.
• Hyperhidrosis – underarm sweating
As RF Microneedling is considered a non-invasive procedure, the risk and downtime involved are minimal. Not just that, even the discomfort involved in RF Microneedling is next to non-existent. One of the most common side-effects felt by most patients is a little skin irritation and redness of the skin.
Also, if any of the below-mentioned conditions apply to you, you would not be a candidate for RF Microneedling –
• Pregnancy/lactation
• Autoimmune disease
• Metal Implants
• Defibrillator
• Pacemaker
• Cancer
• Skin disease
As mentioned above, recovery and downtime in an RF Microneedling procedure are minimal. Most patients are able to resume their daily lives immediately after treatment is complete. However, it is natural to experience some redness and irritation in the treated area for a few hours to the next day.
We recommend the generous use of sunscreen lotion as the skin is recuperating and is more susceptible to sunburn immediately after the procedure.
The tightening effect and final results are going to appear gradually over six months – which is the time taken by the skin to fully rebuild. To get a full face restoration and rebuilding effect we suggest a customized treatment plan with 3-5 RF Microneedling sessions.
